The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
